Small River Rock Molcajete

Description

This molcajete measures approximately 9.5cm x 22cm x 21cm (3 ¾in x 8 ½in x 8 ¼in). For me, this is a modest size, suited to making individual servings of relatively mild salsa, or a sharable quantity of a more potent mixture. I don’t go light on the salsa.

As this molcajete is made, it is well-suited to making salsas. Use for grinding spices and the like is not ideal out of the box as it has a rough inner texture. However, as it wears, the molcajete will eventually become smooth, and could then work well for pulverizing fine spices as well.

These molcajetes are highly variable, both due to their handmade nature and the natural variability in the shape, color and texture of natural river rock.
